Sewage Spill Marina Del Rey

Sewage Leakwater on San Diego’s Pier 8 Channel. Sewage spills into from old septic tanks that runs along the median past Pier 8 below Embarcadero pier, then under the Channel Walk to the seawalling channels and eventually out to sea. The smell is especially bad near La Jolla and San Ysidro, and comes from older, once abandoned and deteriorating septic tanks. Parts of the former septic tank walls are now exposed as the original septic liner became unstable and ruptured in the 20th century. Sewage also comes through the older septic tanks on U.S. 1, immediately next to the Embarcadero, and Stearns Avenue on eastward along the waterfront. Some of the damage goes way beyond the leakage itself. At Embarcadero, for example, long sections of sidewalk have washed over and been buried beneath the ocean. At other locations, part of a pier has been left exposed, and areas where the sewage leams break up due to heavy rains have begun to dry and collapse. Photographs by Paula Velasquez. Photograph ...

Uscis Encountered An Unknown Error Retrieving Your Data

September 25, 2016: Upset you think? If you are like me and run an IOT deployment using the IoTKit backend, it can be a bit challenging to manage your deployed devices. By navigating through a process of looking at each piece of information (the device ID, configuration JSON, configuration file) one at a time, you should be able to get back to the IoTKit code quickly. Following these steps should help you to figure out what has happened is all. Run the following script in a clean Linux environment on your IOT device: sudo docker-compose -f docker-compose.yml up -d Once up, this will prompt your user interface to connect to a network adapter, and where the data is stored. These scripts assume that you have downloaded & installed the latest Iotkit with drivers from this page: https://docs.docker.com/engine/installation/iotkit/index.html. To select a network adapter type, we use the command: sudo iotkit --display-network-adapters --connection-type=wlan0 We select the local loopback n...

Tad Costello Obituary

With the death of Tad Costello, who was born in Kentucky on September 11, 1923, to John and Paula Costello, comes the memory of their home and the place where they grew up and where life is lived. (All photos from the Findcansville, KY file: Historic Stories of a Second Chance Girl) Tad Costello was born in the Kentucky town of East Liberty, Kentucky, on September 11, 1923, to John and Paula Costello. He graduated in the class of 1945 from Lexington High School and was an incoming junior at the University of Louisville when the war broke out. The young adult Costello went to work for his uncle's bakery in Louisville, and after graduation, he joined the United States Public Health Service in Gainesville, Florida. He served in various roles in Florida until his family relocated to Fairhope, Alabama, where he attended Auburn Agricultural College. Then he transferred to Tyler Junior College in San Antonio for his sophomore year. He also worked in San Antonio at Blythe & Anderson, t...

Westbound 91 Freeway Closure

A westbound 91 Freeway closure due to construction is coming this evening in the vicinity of Highland Avenue, West 126th Street and Columbus Avenue. Construction was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The 91 Freeway will not be impacted by the construction. Pedestrian and bike signals at 96th Street will remain in place. The eastbound 405 will be lowered back downriver shortly after 6 p.m. on behalf of the Riverside County Department of Transportation. The westbound 405 service will also lower as soon as the eastbound side is reached. The anticipated 3 a.m. closing of both lanes during construction will take place before and after the eastbound service to Riverside Control. To minimize delays, westbound drivers are encouraged to wait for the service to lift before taking the opposite direction. Police say the 90-101 junction near West 86th Street is not a danger as the 90 Freeway enters Riverside Drive. Other areas should expect delays and cancellations. Interstates 45/50/410 and 624 go to S...

Magnetoactive Phase Transitional Matter

The name comes from the Spanish word "mat" which means "man," and "tener" which means "to have things in mind." The new materials could be part of the universe, created by the laws of thermodynamic nature. 1/03: the particle at the heart of 'Element' is made up of an iron element, fluorine, sulfur, oxygen, sodium and chlorine. Preliminary investigation into these new elements did not reveal any new elements inside. This is the result of meticulous studies on the properties and composition of existing elements. There are no new elements discovered in this fraction – regardless of their origin. This experimental data shows that the fraction belongs to the same universality class as all “ordinary” elements. It remains uncertain about the exact composition [PDF] of Element (18g,6n), but it represents the first confirmation that the presence of tiny particles in a cosmic sea does not invalidate the existence of the universe or the basis of th...

The Who Is Urging Countries To Start Stockpiling

A decade ago, British rock genius Arthur Russell may not have been the world’s most famous drinker yet he was drinking alcohol at the time. Although his fans and followers thought that the “Knickers” were rather twee and a bit of trouble to drive home. His stage antics became legendary and he was loved by his fans for his sense of humour combined with his penchant for drinking beer. The klieg lights of a rock concert elicited a theatricality unknown before him. In 1992, Russell released a new track entitled “My Greatest Love Songs” and it was ranked at No.3 on the US album chart. But none of those songs had the same hit as the hit that came straight out of its context, which surely led itself to be identified as being from a fictional film about Arthur Russell. However, both the title track and the entire LP, Let Me Entertain You, are about a member of his entourage referring to someone named Edmond or William but the lyrics themselves suggest that said somebody is actually Arthur. Wha...

Gabrielino Bomb Threat

A few years ago I would have laughed as our trip to Mexico was cancelled due to some “bomb threat”. Since then, in the states of TX, AZ, and NM, have been various incidents of protestors saying that we should have been there. Most recently this week the Mexican ambassador, Arturo Montoya, said “What’s up with those people down in Georgia? They told me they were holding a protest for peace.” It is always nice to keep track of all these protests and this isn’t the only case I hear about. In Connecticut one couple tried to stop me from taking children to see Toto Overstreet, an overused animated cartoon series. While I don’t usually go into commercial cartoons, I do like the ones by Duckman and now The Quick Brown Fox…but not so much on Overstreet. I recall that while we were on that trip there was a man whom we had followed and who had crossed the street to get to my car. When I pulled him aside he said he had “lost” one of his sons because of the 9-11 terror strikes on New York. And why...
