As any doctor will tell you, all medicine is based on a trial and error model, which at first seems to be about how to work around rather than directly challenge the limits of what we know. But when a soul walks into a forest and a series of decisions creates a dilemma outside those bounds - one that affects the life and death of millions - we all have to make a choice between two worldviews.


The most horrifying choice is the choice not to save your humanity. But the second most difficult choice is when every other part of your self is made to act in obedience to the result of this darkest inner choice. And though it may seem like the choice is always between life and death, in many cases it is the choice between survival and death, turning that question into an _inside-the-body_ question.


Author's Note: I've put off posting the last 2 books of this trilogy, as I felt I need to complete the storyline before I can continue to post the covers. Now they are all posted, and I'll be adding more soon...


Many friends have said that I'm sort of a writer-kid, and some would be happy for me to write something but under the table! Although that may be true, the thought of putting pen to paper and writing each chapter beforehand kind of makes me want to live dangerously with my own life. Plus, I could say the same about any person regardless of rank, background, or stature, so I find that hard to take seriously. So I use words like "outline" and "preview" loosely, and it turns out I know a little bit about publishing even after all my years in print journalism, so I feel that both the descriptions and metaphors working here are worth examining.


To begin, some of you have asked for this book to be done after our current format goes back up.
