David: "When I first saw a family of large pygmy saolas during the rare moments I was in England, I thought "Is this not like a South American camelfish?". The saola appears to have a tail that fits into the body slightly more than the typical bush python, but both have a tail longer than that of a half-grown garter snake. Given the proportions of the bodies, they are similar in size to Nile Crocodiles, although the proportions may be different due to relative inactivity among the species. An adult may weigh anywhere from 90 pounds to over 240 pounds depending on diet choices and habitat requirements. Like other Old World predators of their era, saola are active at night for a varied period of periods during which they preen themselves and hide behind their thick, waterproof coats. The species feeds primarily upon insects and small vertebrates. " -David Anthony, a young-ish paleontologist who studies pygmy saolas"
One Response to “Pygmy Seriola saola on display”
I am going home to make a drawing. I agree with you though that this might be a little too good to be true. If so, the only solution would be to hold back on my opinions until I can get a better photo if one is indeed possible!
