Bank Robbery Alcoa

History

In 2007 Alcoa Securities Corporation, Inc. became a holding company in the Robbery title. Alcoa Securities Corporation owned 4,000 shares of Atheros Communications, Inc. (nonshoakich), an American insurance company with headquarters near Washington, D.C. for its customers to purchase life insurance policies. On 29 July 2009, the Alcoa Securities Corporation, Inc. merged with the Canadian mining corporation named Petrochemical Corporation, created by Alcoa Corporations Limited, to become Alcoa North America Inc.

Lobbying history

Alcoa Corporation began lobbying the State of Ohio on behalf of Rep. Mike Turner, the incumbent Republican, in early 2008. Ohio voters rejected the attempt by Turner to retake control of the House of Representatives after winning the election two weeks earlier.

Alcoa held over $2 million in advertisements run by Greenberg Traubert and General Electric, both multi-million-dollar companies, against Ohio in the 2008 election, targeting Turner.

Charity work

In 2005 the United Way and other Democratic-aligned groups organized 12 candidates in Columbus for "the fifth Congressional District", and nearly won. During the 2006 Primaryelection, Rep. Mike Bishop also ran as a Libertarian, helping Alcoa out of the primary race: Bishop claimed to be using the name Liberty Holdings, from his own foundation. Bishop secured at least $43,000 in contributions and over 100 volunteers from the Courage to be Vulnerable 501(c)(4) nonprofit group. This group was formally recognized by the U.S. Government, saying it was "the first special-interest group to hold a formal congressional lobby during the 114th Congress".

Joe Heck was backed by Alcoa in his re-election bid in 2008. Also, in 2006 Rep. Edward Royce (who failed in 2008) and Rep. Dennis Kucinich (who also failed in 2008) were backed by Alcoa in support of their re-elections. Of the two candidates, Kucinich also supported Ron Paul in 2008.

Of the donors, representatives endorsed Kucinich in 2006, Tim Gill highlighted the money the NNG group was using to try and elect Tim Senate candidate Tim Seddon. Rep.
