Westbound 91 Freeway Closure
A westbound 91 Freeway closure due to construction is coming this evening in the vicinity of Highland Avenue, West 126th Street and Columbus Avenue. Construction was scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
The 91 Freeway will not be impacted by the construction. Pedestrian and bike signals at 96th Street will remain in place.
The eastbound 405 will be lowered back downriver shortly after 6 p.m. on behalf of the Riverside County Department of Transportation. The westbound 405 service will also lower as soon as the eastbound side is reached.
The anticipated 3 a.m. closing of both lanes during construction will take place before and after the eastbound service to Riverside Control. To minimize delays, westbound drivers are encouraged to wait for the service to lift before taking the opposite direction.
Police say the 90-101 junction near West 86th Street is not a danger as the 90 Freeway enters Riverside Drive.
Other areas should expect delays and cancellations. Interstates 45/50/410 and 624 go to San Diego while Interstate 60 becomes Riverside Drive. A Caltrans staff report said the closures occur at 7:57 a.m., 10:38 a.m., 12:44 p.m. and 1:06 p.m.
The freeway above 92 Ave. north of Rochmont is also affected by the closures. However, their closures only start at 2 p.m., noon and 5 p.m. instead of 5:57 a.m., 1 p.m. and 9:38 p.m.
Caltrans has installed directional flashers on the 105 and 130 expressways across from Highland to help drivers manage delays. Caltrans is monitoring all transit and bike routes to inform its traffic plans.
