Mike Glover Militia
Biography
Glover was the son of Bill Glover, who ran a very popular band out of Buffalo, New York in the late 50's during the days when the Gump could see that little ball-park in upstate Michigan where it all happened. The youngest Glover on this list, he remained the youngest vocalist for the Gump for over forty years through his own solo career. He also worked with some of their classic line up such as The Steppenwolf and the Fugs.
The ATC Blues
Before Bill Glover, Bill Garland owned an ancient record store and found himself in attendance of the 1951 Great Migration rally on the Mall in Washington, DC. At first he was paying no attention to the proceedings but then upon reflection he started his tape machine and began recording the events. His taping not only enhanced the speech but helped sway passersby to the point where by the end of the 3 day walkers were protesting the Vietnam War and getting arrested. It really was just too much going on in Washington D.C. That night Glover purchased almost 4,000 dollar’s worth of air time on a paid connection. Afterwards, he returned to his home in Buffalo along with a friend and checked out the rest of the show. He already had a real hit album being recorded with Joe Moskowitz (The Cramps) and they were about to record their own music at Rainbow Studios in New York City. Through the summer of 53' Glover held a series of concerts in Buffalo that stayed packed until early October when the band moved to California.
The Postal Bandits Of Canada
Out of this single release in 1959; the post office bandits from Alberta took off on their remarkable journey via Florida, New York and California. Glenn Morley, (Former Sgt. 2nd Stryke, Denver Bombers/Olympics Hockey Team - 1968) and Tim Boyle (Former Cowboy Ranger from Colorado) have been noted long-time members of The Sound Tribe. Their band continued into the 60's and eventually retired in 1976.
With four of these bands, Ted Sarandad (Former Stylus Man, drummer of Hawk & Wings, Steel Wheels and Quicksilver Messenger Service) along with Joe Egan,(former singer/guitar of Flatt & Scruggs and Trivium) formed "Kilo Bitch".
