The most common and commonly used goal in tabletop PUGs is the "three to play off." You go up against each other in a round where you shoot and each player gets his or her hit point for that action.

However, the standard three-person "a la carte" rule doesn't work for many of the problems with PUGs. Players have to find non-public rooms to use to train, practice and play, and sometimes players don't even have the same room until the final round.

So the idea behind Cadaver Trap was to make PUGs be like an actual organized tournament by giving each player a real room to train in, where they'll have to learn strategy and tactics, but also have a place where they can share food and drink with their friends. The main tool will be the dinoaprygium spheres that sit atop of the player's table, giving them a special mark on the ground when they hit it (and something that doesn't exist in normal 4-player mazes), and this will give them a way to easily exchange items with their friends without having to visit a different machine room.

The plan is to come up with an online multiplayer format, using what was done in Memento Mori to create things like turn-based AI opponents, but turning them into the kind of realistic, fun and complete gaming experience that you only get in real tournaments.

If there's any design aspect or part of the game that you've had trouble with, I hope you find this FAQ helpful. It's very much a hobby project, but one that could become a real thing. If it helps anyone else, I'm no nerd, and I'm certainly not trying to make a hardcore RPG. I'm just a guy trying to improve my speed; I've kept up with my copy of StarCrawler, which I think is a pretty good game. I don't have much else to recommend, but some of the things I've been pondering might help you out... Just know that this is a lot of hard work -- there are no errors or typos in this stuff. It's a big undertaking!
