Walmart Rosemead Evacuation

In response to the public health disaster of the outbreak of coronavirus and as preparation is underway, we’re enacting the following precautionary measures that are being taken:

• Vacating all nonessential retail stores including larger department stores and home improvement stores in Rosemead, Sacramento and Bakersfield. Retail employees who are working remotely and off site for reasons other than to shop with us may request to work from a home or second job via Onsite Operations; they will continue to receive paychecks but will be required to report to our Rosemead location on Monday morning. When reporting to the Rosemead center, customers will either continue to use their store card to pay online or use a physical store card upon arrival at our store. In case an employee needs access to store equipment such as bathroom facilities, we will not reimburse them. All outside vendors and trade contractors have been asked to wear masks and gloves during any kind of sales.

• We will be modifying our production process to better streamline orders into our retail stores. Work will be spread across the day, so as not to impact our overall delivery schedule. By selling online now, we will save a lot of time and money due to no need to reach stores to get supplies or check inventory levels.

• Employees who are working remotely will be required to keep a physical store card for the length of the work-week until they return to normal travel after visiting a business or home relative. Customers should stay 6 feet apart to minimize shaking when entering or exiting the store and reduce the risk of cross exposure. Employees who are still working from home must use a computer or tablet to check deliveries throughout the day. All patrons requesting rides to stores will be required to use an authorized ride pass through the store or onsite. When interacting with customers, employees should cover their mouth and nose with paper towels, wear N95 masks, and clean hands frequently. Staff will be required to wear gloves while shopping for groceries.

• Each of our retail stores is being vacated separately. If needed, the areas closed will be restored on a day-to-day basis within 24 to 48 hours. Please stay home unless you are essential to the workforce. Only essential employees will be allowed to work from home.
